I think the bit of acting between 12:05 and 12:15 was probably the best
    10/10 would work again.

To start with, the Moon is slowly drifting away from the Earth, it used to
    be 100,000 miles closer.

Wouldn’t it be simpler to push the Moon away than to terraform Mars and
move enough people there to have a stable genetic pool, and try to do it
    all within a few years?

Great short! Wanted to see more. Richard Oakes is clearly a dedicated

sense of the passion and commitment necessary to make such a journey.
Kudos to Richard and the cast. Great job! And totally futuro-rock-blazin

about going to Mars and a sinking Moon.

I stopped watching at the scene with the “venomous” whipscorpion. Number

Why all the bloody dislikes? This was an amazing short, deserves every bit
of respect! I think the acting was a little weak in places, while the story
and its resolution a little unclear… but it’s one of the best free /
amateur CGI films you will find, especially for 16 minute long ones. I
really hope the team is planning to do more animated films in the future.

    • MirceaKitsune on November 8, 2015 at 11:50 am

+Andy Wilderness: You’re the only one getting angry and using bad words
here. I didn’t put any words into your mouth: I said this is very good for
a community film, you disagreed (in a rude manner too), and I told you why
I think the film is great. Of course, I should know better than to engage
random angry people around the internet by now, who are obviously here just
      to argue.

    • Andy Wilderness on November 8, 2015 at 11:50 am

      +MirceaKitsune
Look asshole (because that’s what you’re acting like, an asshole), I never
said it was easy. Just because I say it doesn’t look good that good, that
doesn’t mean I say it’s easy, and I do *not* appreciate you putting words
in my mouth. It doesn’t look that good, that’s the fucking facts.

    • MirceaKitsune on November 8, 2015 at 11:50 am

+Andy Wilderness: Well if you think it’s easy, feel free to make a film as
good as this yourself! I’m a 3D animator, and it takes me months to make
even a 30 second animation that actually looks okay. For something made by
a small team for free, I think it reaches okay quality standards…
obviously it’s not an Oscar worthy film either.

At just under seven minutes during a rant a dramatic phase is created by
the rant having a moment of expressional high and at the same time a light
comes on as a reference to light is made, this is too contrived and would
eliminate the natural nature of the drama, the light would indicate
contrivance and another person or device being used falsely for effect,
phony otherwise. I am fasinated by the idea of English people making it to
    space..

  60. Mechknight73 on October 16, 2015 at 12:02 am

Very well done. People might nitpick about the visuals, but the plot was
first class. More interesting than half the crap coming out of Hollywood
lately, and I do like the personal touch of his security droid using some
very human phrases. Keep doing what you’re doing, and hopefully you’ll get
noticed by people with deep pockets

    • Mechknight73 on October 16, 2015 at 12:02 am

We need some thinkers in Hollywood, and it’s people like you that should be
making money, not idiots like Michael Bay. If you know the REAL plot of
Transformers, you’ll understand why fans don’t like him. Special effects
are good, but they can never make up for a crap plot

If ever you’ve read War of the Worlds, as in H.G. Wells’ original 1895
version, it had rich layers and historical references. In 1950, Hollywood
had a go at adapting it to the silver screen. They transplanted it the then
present day Midwest America. It wasn’t as good as the novel, but not bad

In 1979, Jeff Wayne made a musical of it, with Richard Burton as the
narrator. He kept in the spirit of the original, and it was a smash hit.

In 2005, Tom Cruise starred in another remake where not only was the story
butchered, but the overacting and over the top special effects ruined it.

So there was no real solution for their problem, or even a small hint of
what could come next. What is the purpose of the video, then?

    • Darion D'Anjou on October 7, 2015 at 12:05 am

yeh, it’s all about that immediate satisfaction of sticking it to the man.
that one moment of getback against all the moments of being dumped on.
like, see? you’re not untouchable. we can get to you too! Like Arab
jihadists against the United States. They are thrilled if they can get one
American head chopped off, or take out one US jeep or helicopter. It’s such
a huge symbolic win for them, and major moment of satisfaction regardless
if it makes no difference to their daily lifestyle or outcome of the
overall conflict. For the oppressed little guy all of that is irrelevant to
the weight of that one momentary thrill of victory.

    • Mau Menzori on October 7, 2015 at 12:05 am

      +Darion D’Anjou Interesting point of view, hmm…

    • Darion D'Anjou on October 7, 2015 at 12:05 am

+Mau Menzori people who are left for dead probly don’t care much for a
logical solution. it’s a pure anger and revenge thing against the elite who
      put them into destitution.

For a low budget movie. Bare in mind that Movies need money for high tech
state of the art equipment’s for Special effects, You need runners and
Professional Continuity manager, You need a set designer, you need a budget
to Rehearse and block (most films take as long as 3-4 months to rehears and
block to get everything perfect. and it all takes money to do. This was a
low budget, friends helping movie, imagine of the director had a full
budget, to pay for all of the above. It would be so amazing. Well done to
the actors and Director for Filming this in a short time and with out all
the benefit a very high budget funding.

It took over seven years for the moon to crash into the Earth?!

    • Princof Troy on September 29, 2015 at 9:39 am

+darkfablemedia Yeah, but if it were going to destroy the Earth than that
speed would do NOTHING to the surface.

Besides, the gravitational pull of the moon would have already severely
screwed up the planet before any of these people would’ve even decided to
      depart.

    • darkfablemedia on September 29, 2015 at 9:39 am

  79. Frank White on September 26, 2015 at 2:00 pm

The writing and acting wasn’t that great and the VFX towards the last
portion of the short just looked like greenscreen (mostly because of the
lighting not matching the main actor). Could have gotten away with a lot of
that stuff if it was a lot shorter…but the bald guy trying to seem off
crazy still needed some better direction or just to be replaced. I guess he
was going for the same vibe as what Brad Pitt’s character did in 12

So as I said before, the Promo made me excited for this Short Film. We’ll
definitely do a review on it.. but just for here.. Overall it was a good
romp – you’d have to turn your brain off for a few parts – but I enjoyed
it. The Exposition was clunky and didn’t feel like it fit – I think they
could have done it better. With the exception of the ‘bad guy’ who over
acted a bit, performances seemed solid. Music was a bit to loud in points
to.. This is definitely a good short film, will be looking for more from
    this Director and co ;)

    special effects are not good

  86. The Opinionated Reviewer on September 25, 2015 at 6:48 am

I haven’t seen it yet, but the actual promo for this made me excited to
    look at it..

    Sad ending :'(

thats not geneticly modified scorpion, it’s whip spider

  89. Daniel B on September 25, 2015 at 4:14 am

While impressive for amateurs, I’m disappointed that four minutes was
nothing but credits and there was no real resolution to the plot.

    • David Oakes on September 25, 2015 at 4:14 am

+Daniel B This is more of a “proof of concept”. A short pitch to shop
around to see if anyone is interested in making the full movie. This was
never intended to be a complete narrative.

    • Noel Agabi on September 25, 2015 at 4:14 am

+Daniel B with low budgets you get so much help from different people for
free so you have to mention them. From people who motivated you to people
who helped you secure that location that you would not have got without
money. Its not easy or cheap to make a film.

Nice 😀 I saw a lot of Motion Design Parts in there, cool man :D

  91. Anna E on September 25, 2015 at 3:11 am

In the future, did they forget how to gut and skin animals? When he tosses
the rat head, fur and all, into the soup, that was stupid and took me out
    of the experience.

Otherwise, it was entertaining enough to keep me watching, but the basic
plot has been done over and over…

    • RyuDarragh on September 25, 2015 at 3:11 am

+Anna E For me it was the retro tech that undid it. Why would a CRT be a
      survivor when LCDs are tougher?

    • EDM XERO on September 25, 2015 at 3:11 am

      +Anna E maybe he’s just a savage and doesn’t give a fuck about a little
hair. (or he’s lazy as hell)

  92. Gammel Prutte on September 25, 2015 at 2:51 am

Too much noise and too much wobbly-cam.

awesome , i tawt issgonnabe more views, but iss a new film lel

  94. Truth Be Told on September 25, 2015 at 2:28 am

The acting was a bit dry but overall an interesting story with a compelling
ending. Although I don’t understand why the bald guy blew up the ship or
took over the security systems, what is his motivations? Is he a terrorist,
revenge? I also agree, much of the green screen was lacking.

    • Truth Be Told on September 25, 2015 at 2:28 am

I see, so a bit like the Elysium plot, that makes sense. I guess it wasn’t
clear to me initially. Maybe could have developed that character a bit more
in order to convey that sentiment.

    • Anna E on September 25, 2015 at 2:28 am

      +Truth Be Told
He was poor and hated the rich because evil corporations… and stuff. The
rich were leaving the planet – probably because it was unsustainable – I
guess leaving the poor to their own devices, and so he blew them up.

  95. Darth Biomech on September 25, 2015 at 1:54 am

The storytelling seems to be convoluted. That’s despite having whole 16
    minutes for the short!

    • Eliza on January 21, 2016 at 5:19 pm

Keep these arceilts coming as they’ve opened many new doors for me.

  97. M̳r͔̠V̤ͣ̾͝ib̮͍̞ͬ3̜̳ͤͣr̨ͦ̏ on September 25, 2015 at 1:27 am

the ending was pretty bad… like the explosion should have been a lot
better.. and shutting the rocket up wouldn’t blow it up. its engines should
have just shut down all of a sudden and made it fall back down.

    • brockmacii on September 25, 2015 at 1:27 am

well it probably blew up in midair because all the heat was building up
inside until it was too much to hold

  99. Old As Fuck White Neighbor on September 25, 2015 at 1:00 am

this was entertaining to say the least. Some of the transitions were rough,
and the green screen is a little bad in some parts. Still, better than
anything I could make at the moment. GG

    • MirceaKitsune on September 25, 2015 at 1:00 am

+Old As Fuck White Neighbor: I think the acting was a little weak here and
there, otherwise there aren’t many major critiques I can bring to this.

    • Nick DeBlasio on September 25, 2015 at 1:00 am

It could be the start of a full movie, it’s got the plot points to expand on

  100. SpetS on September 25, 2015 at 12:50 am

the destruction of the moon by mining or whatever is getting old and
overused since I believe the Time Machine remake movie, maybe even before
of that, also in video games. leave the moon alone!

    • Some Guy on September 25, 2015 at 12:50 am

+SpetS Wasn’t overmining, got hit by an asteroid and now it’s falling out
      of orbit into the planet.
